Meet Molly Partyka

with Art by Molly Partyka

Molly Partyka is an expressionist painter and mixed media artist in Charlotte, NC exploring how art can transport one back to another time and place. Molly’s art invokes the memory of past travels, a sense of wanderlust to explore, and feelings of peace and wonder. Her art reflects life’s joys with its ups & downs and explores life’s experiences through a play of color and texture. "For me, my art is all about Color Play!” From colorful abstracts and florals, to landscapes inspired by Ireland, Molly plays with color, using acrylics, watercolors, and collage to capture moments in time and snippets of energy and experiences. The Charlotte connection for Molly began in 1985, when her family relocated from the Cincinnati area and she enrolled into the visual arts program at UNCC as a freshman. She earned BCA with Interdisciplinary Honors, UNCC. Thirty-four years later, Molly is still in the classroom, now teaching and creating art here in Charlotte. Molly Partyka has dedicated her time and expertise to The Fletcher School since the start of the 2015-16 academic year, inspiring creativity and awakening talents in students for the last 8 years. Currently, Molly is completing her ASC 2023 Artist Support Grant where she is having her artwork transformed into textiles. She is fusing her 12+ years textile design experience from Springs Global with her art expertise to produce new artwork that will be made into soft home goods such as pillows and curtains. This past summer, Molly was an Artist in Residence at The Burren College of Art in Ballyvaughan, Co. Clare, Ireland for 4 weeks. In 2021, Molly was honored to be one of 20 artists selected for ArtPop Street Gallery. Her painting, Begin Again was featured throughout 2021 on billboard displays, newsstand space, digital spectaculars, and overhead charging station displays at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. A full-scale version of her ArtPop piece and 7 other paintings as part of her 2020 Arts & Science Council Regional Artist Project Grant, "Change in Motion" was on display at CPCC's Bill and Patty Gorelick Gallery Levine Campus and Cato Campus for 2021.
